Angus Trott, Owner, atrott@portcitypestnc.com

Angus started working in pest control in 2004 right after graduating from Cape Fear Community College. He soon became a certified applicator and was later promoted to field supervisor. Angus performed trouble shooting duties, sales, inventory, integrated pest management and served as the company’s Wildlife Damage Control Agent for over six years. Twelve years later Angus Trott started Port city Pest. He wanted to provide quality service at affordable prices.

“I really enjoyed the customer service aspect of the job,” Angus said of his previous work. Meeting with customers and being invited into their homes, “It could be a family invaded by ants in their kitchen or a renter with a raccoon in their attic. Each job presented its own task that I would strive to solve in the most professional, strategic manner with the utmost consideration for cost and time management, using the variety of tools I had in my service vehicle. Safety and the environment were paramount to me.”

Angus grew up on a livestock farm in Richlands, NC. “I was first introduced to pest control when I was 12 years old my dad taught me how to scatter fly granules inside the hog houses to help keep the flies off the hogs and prevent the spread of disease. Growing up, my parents had a rental property next door to our house and I remember when my dad handed me a few foggers and boric acid and told me to go next door and ‘get rid of all the roaches.’ I quickly learned that one treatment with a few foggers was not going to work and I needed to regroup if I was going to meet my dad’s expectations. After that day and soon after the follow up treatments I performed I finally eradicated all the pests: it was then I realized that I had not only an interest but a passion in keeping my parent’s rental, our family farm and our home pest free. After a while it didn’t seem like work to me, but something that needed to be done and I was good at. And to quote my grandpa: ‘Son, find a trade you enjoy doing and it will not seem like work.’ I am proud to be a local business owner and to help the community out with keeping their life’s healthy and pest free.”
